And so it begins....

Yes! The chassis renovation of what will become our Truck Camper has begun. We need a name for her, but what do you name an indestructible 'home on wheels'? Any suggestions?

The whole back end has now been removed with only the chassis visible. Following removal of the fuel tank, electric cables, spare wheel with hoist and the tow bar, a small amount of welding will be needed to strengthen her for longevity.

We have sanded the majority of the chassis to remove any signs of rust before coating it with a rust prevention treatment. Once this had dried, the treated chassis has been painted with underseal to prevent further corrosion.
The cab has been stripped of its seating and carpet before sanding and painting to prevent more corrosion.
The next step was to strip the cab ready for removal so we can sand, treat and paint the remainder of the chassis.
The typical British weather meant we came to a standstill....rain, rain and more rain prevented us from continuing to work on her. Fear not! Mate managed to find the perfect gazebo that would allow us to work in all weather.
The next step was to remove as much as possible from under the bonnet (and the bonnet itself) to make removing the cab straightforward
...at least we are hoping it will be straightforward.
