Camping with Cica…..what could possibly go wrong?

We love to camp and recently we have started taking Cica, our full of life tortie on our adventures. Our recent trip to Isle of Skye was a success so we thought we’d give camping a go. Would the tent survive? Would we survive the night in a tent with Cica? There’s only one way to find out!
We booked our campsite, packed up the car and headed off on our adventure.

We stayed local for our first camping trip, being prepared in case anything went wrong so we could easily get back home. We booked for 2 nights at the Fundraising Campsite in Dyserth (North Wales), it was a lovely little campsite with toilets, showers and even hot tubs available to hire. There was also dish washing facilities, a pop-up bar on weekends and a small area to buy food.
We pitched our tent, which took no longer than ten minutes. It was then time to settle Cica, this took considerably longer than setting up the tent….but not for the reasons you would expect! We wanted her first tent experience to be comfortable, so we began unpacking her things out of the car; scratch post, litter tray, food bowls, snacks, we even took a quilt and pillow - we can assure you these were purely for Cica’s comfort! And comfortable she was.
We allowed Cica the first afternoon to explore her new surroundings and familiarise herself with the tent, it’s safe to say she loved her time exploring.
The next day we ventured out into the countryside, harness and lead at the ready we put Cica in the car and headed off.
We went for a short walk, a short walk for us but a long walk for Cica. Through fields and bracken, up to a viewpoint and back through the bracken. The wind was too much for Cica so we didn’t stay long at the viewpoint. She loved the different scents and exploring in the bracken. She is only small and easily disappeared amongst the tall bracken.
After Cica’s little adventure we headed back to the campsite, we were all a bit hungry (Helen is always hungry!). We lit the BBQ and before it was ready for food, Cica had eaten and was already sleeping.
Cica soon woke up and played throughout the evening until bed time.
We were a little worried about Cica scratching the tent, not once did she attempt to scratch the tent but she did try to open the zips at night, clearly she wanted to be outside playing.
Our first camping trip was a huge success and we know there will be many more in the future. However, next time it won’t be the three of us…..
She’s in her element there! Can’t wait to see her having more adventures and sniffing all the sniffs along the way 😻
