The cab is off!

After a lot of time and effort the cab is finally off the truck. We can finally see progress after weeks of stripping the cab and engine bay. All electrical cables have been detached along with the majority of engine parts.

The removal of the cab was relatively easy, getting the weight balance correct was slightly more difficult. To ease the pressure and weight distribution, removing the doors from the cab was our best option. The weight reduced significantly and the cab was much easier to lift and manoeuver into its temporary location while we continue with the chassis work and painting.

The next step will be removing the engine and gear box to reveal the rest of the chassis for sanding, treating and painting. Treating the back of the chassis was time consuming and weather dependent. The gazebo and newly purchased sandblaster will make the next stage a quick and easy job.

The engine and gearbox will be refurbished before going back into the engine bay reassuring us that both major parts will be reliable for many more miles.

The cab will be treated and painted before going back onto the chassis, with robust paint preventing future scratches and making it look much better.
